Rouroni Kenshin 2023 Revival Promo Unveils Voice Actors for Main Cast

Our favorite 90s samurai is making a come back.

Kenshin Himura (緋村 剣心), the beloved samurai of the 1990s, is making a comeback with a new anime adaptation. In a promo released on December 17th, we’ve gotten a glimpse of what’s to come including the voice actors chosen for the main cast.

According to the promo details, the new series will be broadcast on Fuji TV “Noitamina” and a few other stations starting in 2023. Fans can expect another delve into the classic story with all of the characters we know and love.

The Rouroni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story (るろうに剣心 -明治剣客浪漫譚-) manga, created by Nobuhiro Nishiwaki (西脇 伸宏), first debuted in 1994. It was released in Weekly Shounen Jump where it gained popularity until making its way to the TV in 1996 in its first anime adaptation.

The manga was released outside of Shounen Jump with a total of 28 volumes selling more than 72 million copies worldwide. This new revival covers the same story as the manga, like the original anime which lasted between 1996 and 1998.

Playing the role of our protagonist, Himura Kenshin (緋村 剣心), is Soma Saito (斉藤 壮馬). Alongside Soma Saito is Rie Takahashi (高橋 李依) portraying the lovely Kaoru Kimya (神谷 薫). Makoto Koichi (小市 眞琴) will take over the role of Myōjin Yahiko (明神 弥彦) while Taku Yashiro (八代 拓) is stepping up to voice Sagara Sanosuke (相楽 左之助). You can check out the promo over at YouTube.
