From now through December 13th, you can find class manga over at Midtown Comics with discounts up to 50% off. The purchases also include free shipping. Sales like these can be great for both last-minute holiday shoppers and classic manga lovers looking to fill out their collections. But is this one worth the time?

We took the time to peruse their inventory and found a few classic manga titles that we think are worth a look. They sell a wide range of products from western comics to figures so the classic manga selection is somewhat limited. Still, there are a few things that surprised even us. Here’s a list of what we found and how much of a discount they’re offering.

Dragon Ball 3-In-1 Edition Vols 1, 2, and 3: [50% off $15] now $7.50

This collection includes volumes 1, 2, and 3 of the original Dragon Ball manga. It’s listed with a regular price of $15 but is currently marked down to just $7.50. If you’re looking for an omnibus of this Akira Toriyama classic, this is a great chance to snag a copy.

Maxion Vol 1: [50% off $16] now $8

This supernatural, romance comedy manga first made its debut in 1997. Now is a great time to check it out or share it with a friend as it’s currently listed at 50% off. They also have volumes 2 and 3 available.

Bubblegum Crisis Grand Mal Vol 1: [50% off $15] now $7.50

The classic 80s sci-fi action series prequel is available for $7.50, 50% off its asking price of $15. Note, this is not the original Bubblegum Crisis series but rather a prequel written by Adam Warren. It was originally released in 1995.

No Need For Tenchi, Techni in Love Vol 7: [50% off $16] now $8

Fans of Tenchi Muyo should take a look at this 50% discount on No Need For Tenchi, Techni in Love Vol 7. They don’t have every volume of this series but if you’re missing volume 7, now’s your chance to take it home for $8 instead of $16.

Sailor Moon Naoko Takeuchi Collection Vol 1: [25% off $13] now $9.75

The Sailor Moon Naoko Takeuchi Collection is a retranslation of the original Sailor Moon manga with a higher page count. This discount saves you 25% off the asking price for a final total of $9.75.

Chronowar Vol 1: [10% off $2.20] now $1.98

Chronowar is usually priced at $2.20 which is already fairly cheap on its own. They added an extra 10% off, taking it down to $1.98. As far as stocking stuffers go, this is definitely an affordable one. Plus, they have volumes 1 – 9 available.

Project A-Ko 2 Vol 1: [10% off $1.90] now $1.70

Project A-Ko 2 is a sequal to the original Project A-Ko picking up where the story left off. It’s usually priced at $1.90 which is a notably low price on its own. This sale takes an additional 10% off for a final price of $1.70.

Slayers Vol 4: [10% off $3.30] now $2.96

You can find volume 4 of Slayers for $2.96, 10% cheaper than its going rate of $3.30. You can find a few other editions from this series on the website as well but not enough to start collecting from the beginning. This might help existing fans fill in the gaps of an incomplete collection, though.

Nausicaa Of The Valley Of Wind Part 5 Vol 1: [10% off $3.80] now $3.41

This is volume 1 of part 5 of the Miyazaki classic, Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind manga. This discount is also modest given that it has a regular price of just $3.80. Still, the artwork is beautiful and makes for a great gift.

Some of these deals are definitely worth the investment but even the small discounts are quite affordable and can make good stocking stuffers for friends or manga fans looking for some classic titles. At the very least, we hope it helps your last-minute shopping or otherwise helps springboard your research with some new ideas. Happy Holidays!
